Flat Work (Patios and Walkways)
Flat work consists of patios, walkways and anything level with the ground that one would stand or sit on. This can be dry laid on compacted limestone or laid in a bed or mortar with grout. We take extra time to perfectly slope the top for water drainage and we work each stone for the right fit.
Vertical (Retaining Walls Landscape Walls and Veneer)
Vertical masonry consists of retaining walls and veneer as well as fireplaces pizza ovens fence columns and outdoor kitchens. If outdoors, his should always be a structural integrity application rather than a facade. Retaining walls may be dry-stacked or mortared whereas veneer is solely mortared. Veneer may hide the mortar joints to give the dry stacked appearance and should be laid in a mortar bed, not ever to be laid like brick with the air pocket and toothed corners. When done right, proper masonry should outlast all of us. Masonry done wrong can and will need repairs in as little as a few years. Protect your investment and do it once the right way.
Drainage and Erosion
We apply multiple drainage solutions including french drains and curtain drains as well as dry creek beds and wraps. Rain gardens can also dramatically improve an area.
